Can you really get LASIK for $199 per eye?

Welcome! The Truth in Refractive Surgery Advertising Council was formed by leading independent LASIK Surgeons in response to increasing misleading LASIK advertisements. Advertisements with prices quoted "As low as $299 per eye" lead the public to think that anyone can get LASIK for $299 per eye, however, this is just not true!

As absurd as it sounds, sometimes LASIK is even advertised as "free". These promotion tactics are not fair. "Indeed, only 3 percent of LASIK procedures cost less than $1,000 per eye, and the average price is about $2,000."

LASIK Eye Surgery Pricing - What the Consumer Should Know

Many experts recommend avoiding LASIK surgery centers with aggressive advertising campaigns. Such corporate LASIK centers often employ "bait-and-switch" tactics by enticing customers with the promise of low LASIK eye surgery prices, then adding numerous fees to the final cost based on "extras" not disclosed in the original advertisement.

On the other hand, paying a higher price does not necessarily guarantee that you will get the best LASIK surgeon. To ensure that you find a skilled LASIK surgeon for your LASIK procedure, spend ample time researching the credentials of your local LASIK surgeons.

This council that includes many independent, NCQA credentialed ophthalmologists has been formed to help show consumers how deceptive LASIK ads trick and confuse people using "bait and switch" methods.
